Friday: Celebrate July Good Beer Month!

Temperatures have skyrocketed into the 90s this month, making it the perfect time to enjoy a nice frosty brew. It turns out that the timing is perfect, because this happens to be the third annual July Good Beer Month! And what better way to celebrate than with a night full of events devoted to the popular beverage? On July 15th at 7pm, Jimmy Carbone, owner of Jimmy’s No. 43 in the East Village, will host CRAFT/BEER/JAM, a beer-fueled party with a panel conversation, beer sampling, live music and more.

The event will be held at the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC in collaboration with the Good Beer Seal, an accolade that identifies bars that offer an interesting selection of craft beer in a unique atmosphere. Panelists and guests for the evening include Robbin Ottaway, co-owner of Brooklyn Brewery, Jeff Gorlechen of Sixpoint Craft Ales, Ray Deter, owner of d.b.a bars and many more. Panel conversation topics will range from the age-old debate of beer versus wine and the economic challenges facing small breweries in New York State. Stick around to sample craft beers, enjoy appetizers from local restaurants and rock out to live music.

Tickets, which include a beer tasting, are $15 and are available at  www.thegreenespace.org. The Greene Space is located at 44 Charlton Street (at Varick Street).
